In short

This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies: no tracking scripts, no outside fonts, no embedded videos or maps. The fonts and photographs come from the site’s own server. I do count visits, but only from that server’s own log, as described below.

Hosting and server log

The site runs on a server I rent from MilesWeb in Navi Mumbai, India. If you visit from the EU, your data is therefore processed outside the EU. Each time you open a page, the server receives your IP address, the time, the page you asked for and the details your browser sends about itself, and, if your browser passes them on, the page you came from and your preferred language. The server needs this to deliver the page, and it writes it to a log file. The log is deleted automatically after about 15 days.

Legal basis: my legitimate interest in delivering the site safely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Visit statistics

I read that log on my own server to see how the site is used: how many people visit, from which country and city, on which device and browser, where they arrive from, which pages they read and for how long, and whether they reach the contact page.

The last part of your IP address is removed before anything is stored. Your visit is recognised by a code calculated from your connection data that cannot be turned back into it (a hash), not by a cookie. Country, city and network are looked up in a database on my own server, never through an outside service. Search engines, bots, my own visits and those of my web developer are filtered out. I don’t share these statistics with anyone and don’t use them for advertising.

Legal basis: my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to this at any time by writing to me.

Contacting me

If you use the contact form, I store your name, email address, subject and message on my own server, together with the page and language you wrote from, so that I can answer you and, if we work together, arrange sessions. With your message I also store a scrambled version of your IP address that cannot be turned back into it. I use it only to limit spam.

If you email me at info@barbarabuerscher.com, your email is kept in my mailbox. If you write to me on Instagram, the message passes through Instagram (Meta).

I keep messages for as long as I need them to answer you, and if we work together, for as long as we do. Legal basis: your request and our work together (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and my legitimate interest in keeping spam out (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your rights

You can ask me at any time to show you the data I hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict its use, or to send you a copy in a common format, and you can object to its use. Write to info@barbarabuerscher.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority.

Changes

I update this page when the site changes. Last updated: 2 October 2026 (draft).
